Sunday Prayers

Morning

I was glad when they said unto me, "We will go into the house of the Lord."

Psalm 122:1

O Lord, open our lips;
     And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Psalm 84

1 How lovely are your dwellings, * O Lord God of hosts!

2 My soul has a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the Lord; * my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God.

3 Indeed, the sparrow has found her a house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young, * even your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.

4 Blessed are they who dwell in your house; * they will be always praising you.

5 Blessed is the one whose strength is in you, * in whose heart are your ways,

6 Who going through the valley of misery uses it for a well; * indeed, the early rains fill the pools with water.

7 They will go from strength to strength, * and the God of gods shall be seen by them in Zion.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; * hearken, O God of Jacob.

9 Behold, O God, our defender, * and look upon the face of your Anointed.

10 For one day in your courts * is better than a thousand;

11 I would rather be a door-keeper in the house of my God * than dwell in the tents of ungodliness.

12 For the Lord God is a light and defense; * the Lord will give grace and honor, and no good thing shall he withhold from those who live a godly life.

13 O Lord God of hosts, * blessed is the one who puts his trust in you.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Pascha Nostrum

Alleluia. Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us; * therefore let us keep the feast,

Not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, * but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Alleluia.

Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; * death no longer has dominion over him.

The death that he died, he died to sin, once for all; * but the life he lives, he lives to God.

So also consider yourselves dead to sin, * and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord. Alleluia.

Christ has been raised from the dead, * the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

For since by a man came death, * by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead.

For as in Adam all die, * so also in Christ shall all be made alive. Alleluia.

1 Corinthians 5:7-8; Romans 6:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:20-22

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect

O God our King, by the resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ on the first day of the week, you conquered sin, put death to flight, and gave us the hope of everlasting life: Redeem all our days by this victory; forgive our sins, banish our fears, make us bold to praise you and to do your will; and steel us to wait for the consummation of your kingdom on the last great Day; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Let us bless the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.

2 Corinthians 13:14

Midday

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Colossians 3:1

O God, make speed to save us.
     O Lord, make haste to help us.

Psalm 119

105 Your word is a lantern to my feet * and a light upon my path.

106 I have sworn and am steadfastly purposed * to keep your righteous judgments.

107 I am troubled above measure; * revive me, O Lord, according to your word.

108 Let the freewill offerings of my mouth please you, O Lord; * and teach me your judgments.

109 My life is always in my hand, * yet I do not forget your law.

110 The ungodly have laid a snare for me, * yet I have not strayed from your commandments.

111 Your testimonies have I claimed as my heritage for ever, * and why? They are the very joy of my heart.

112 I have applied my heart to fulfill your statutes always, * even unto the end.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Magna Et Mirabilia

O ruler of the universe, Lord God, great deeds are they that you have done, * surpassing human understanding.

Your ways are ways of righteousness and truth, * O King of all the ages.

Who can fail to do you homage, Lord, and sing the praises of your Name? * For you only are the Holy One.

All nations will draw near and fall down before you, * because your just and holy works have been revealed.

Revelation 15:3-4

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect

Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the Cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Romans 15:13

Evening

Lord, I have loved the habitation of your house and the place where your honor dwells.

Psalm 26:8

O Lord, open our lips;
     And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Psalm 23

1 The Lord is my shepherd; * I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: * he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: * he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his Name’s sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: * for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: * thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: * and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Magnificat

My soul magnifies the Lord, * and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;

For he has regarded * the lowliness of his handmaiden.

For behold, from now on, * all generations will call me blessed;

For he that is mighty has magnified me, * and holy is his Name.

And his mercy is on those who fear him, * throughout all generations.

He has shown the strength of his arm; * he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, * and has exalted the humble and meek.

He has filled the hungry with good things, * and the rich he has sent empty away.

He, remembering his mercy, has helped his servant Israel, * as he promised to our fathers, Abraham and his seed for ever.

Luke 1:46-55

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect

Lord God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ triumphed over the powers of death and prepared for us our place in the new Jerusalem: Grant that we, who have this day given thanks for his resurrection, may praise you in that City of which he is the light, and where he lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Let us bless the Lord.

Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Compline

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

1 Peter 1:3

The Lord Almighty grant us a peaceful night and a perfect end.
     Amen.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord;
     The maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 4

1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; * you set me free when I was in trouble; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

2 O you children of men, how long will you blaspheme my honor, * and have such pleasure in vanity, and seek after falsehood?

3 Know this also, that the Lord has chosen for himself the one that is godly; * when I call upon the Lord, he will hear me.

4 Stand in awe, and sin not; * commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still.

5 Offer the sacrifice of righteousness * and put your trust in the Lord.

6 There are many that say, “Who will show us any good?” * Lord, lift up the light of your countenance upon us.

7 You have put gladness in my heart, * more than when others’ grain and wine and oil increased.

8 I will lay me down in peace, and take my rest; * for you, Lord, only, make me dwell in safety.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Nunc Dimittis

Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, * according to your word.

For my eyes have seen your salvation, * which you have prepared before the face of all people;

To be a light to lighten the Gentiles, * and to be the glory of your people Israel.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
